Thisweek.to has one purpose: to support the Toronto music scene. The fans, the bands, and the venues.
Inspired by the classic grid of the defunct print weeklies (NOW Magazine, Eye Weekly), we show you all the week's shows on one page. We admit it's a lot to take in. You might not be used to this level of information density. That's fine - you can see today's listings, or check out listings by venue.
The venues: We cover everything from the fantastic renegade spaces like BSMT254 and Low Bar up to Massey Hall & History. The big corporate places can take care of themselves. Though we suppose we could be persuaded to cover them too.
The bands: We try to list everyone on the bill. Not just the headliner. Not (the sure sign that emotionless event scraping has occurred) just the headliner and some PR about how great the headliner is. Backing bands are people too! We're working on ideas to help local acts cut through the noise.
The fans: All we can say is that we hope you find this useful. We started the site because we kept missing good shows. We sure have no excuse now. And if you've arrived at our site - neither do you! Except those big corporate gigs, but you probably already know about them.
The site: lovingly hand-scraped listings, curated and assigned (the hard part) to genres. Roughly, but hopefully close enough to help you make your music decision. Flat HTML pages, for the lightest and quickest loading - we hate spinny dials and jittery websites. Things should look good on your phone too (but if something doesn't, feel free to complain). No cookies other than anonymized google analytics. No affiliate links, except those already included in venue ticket links. (Venues and bands, we leave your ticket links in tact.)
